Emotions

This week we have been talking about emotions. Yesterday we took two quizes on identifying smiles if they are fake or if they are genuine. the second one was identifing emotions. if the gesture was happy sad etc. on the first quiz i could identify 15 out of 20 of the smiles. after the quiz Dreier told us to not look at the smile or teeth he told us to look at the eyes. well as i was taking the quiz i was only looking that the teeth. on the second one i got confused easily by what emotion they were trying to show. Did anyone else? Maybe that means im just not that intouch with my emotions. haha not. But i think this topic on emotions is very interesting.

Weekly blog

This week we focused on therapy and disorders. I find disorders very interesting. I have experienced bi polar disorder first hand. My older cousin has bi polar and at family events this affect everyone. Last christmas we were at family dinner and my boyfriend came with me. We were talking about his hockey career and all of a sudden she just started freaking out at him and everyone else around us. Later i found out that her ex boyfriend played hockey at thier high school and he recently broke her heart. I never knew how bi polar worked until her mother explained more about it. When reading the therapies and trying to relate them to the disorders on how you should treat each individual was somewhat hard. I always thought just talking out problems and giving them medicine will help them in thier life style. I really find this subject entertaining and interesting.

Two article summaries

http://www.sciencedaily.com/articles/a/adult_attention-deficit_disorder.htm

This article was about AADD. We talked about ADD (attention Deficit disorder). This AADD is Adult attention Deficit disorder. They classified this as adults who have trouble getting work done, procrastination, or disorganized. They gave the statistic that this exists in about 2-4% of adults. Differing from childern symptoms the adults could show inattentive toward their childern, restlessness, and learning/emotional problems. One of the most promonate signs of AADD is acting with out thought. I picked this article because I too have ADD and I always wondered if you could have it in adulthood or if you learn how to be attentive.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/articles/a/aggression.htm

This article is about aggression. This refers to the behavior that is intended to cause him or herself pain. They talk about how aggression can either be physical or verbal. One thing I found interesting is that behavior that is a accident but causes pain is not called aggression. They ask why do people hurt themselves or attempt to hurt others. they mention that the hypothalumus can cause aggression when electrically stimulated. I thought this was interesting that because of a part in your body you can become aggressive. I picked this article because i find it interesting when something can just set someone off on a tangent.
