After reading the article "teens before their time" and discussing the article with a group of people, it got me thinking, why is this happening now? Technology is just starting to advance and is growing everyday. Having technology as a theory of teens growing and producing faster just doesnt seem like a great theory. When you look at all the chemicals put in products for the smell or taste, why could those not be a factor? Looking at my little cousin i can deffenitly see a difference in her life style then mine. She is watching MTV at age 10, i didnt even know what MTV was when i was 10. Looking at the clothes she is wearing compared to what i wore when i was 10 is very very different. I really do think that our brians are growing faster with information about adult life and that is what is speeding up our hormones to make us produce faster. You look at all the dieting commercials these days and the buy this and you will be awesome. Elementary kids these days are shopping at hollister for thongs, i didnt even know what that was until 8th grade. You walk through the mall and you see sex symbols selling products to young kids. The kids see these sex symbols and they want to look like that. I feel all those picture are being processed through their head and speed up everything, their physical and mental self. This artical was a real eye opener, expecially about the 2 year old developing! That was really shocking to me. I am really interested in pursuing child development in college so this unit is very very interesting to me.
