Intelligence

This week we took test that would tell us our IQ and other things. The pie chart test actually told you what type of learning you are better at. My pie chart told me that i would learn better for visual/spatial. I learn by reading the text over and using diagrams to study. For each chapter i use flash cards to learn the vocabulary. I can also learn with hands on acivities. I love doing stations and using my brains to create things or solve problems. I am not a very logical thinker so solving math problems or puzzles is a challenge to me. I love interacting with people and working as a group to create something. I work very well with others and get along with other. After this pie chart i understand now the best way for me to learn information.

Finals week

So this whole week was pretty much a stressful week. Making up work from when i was gone and trying to remember all the stuff i learned before vacation. Having to recall my information that i forgot while i was basking in sun actually was pretty hard. On Monday i started to write out my notes in colorful pens and used flashcards for the vocabualry that i still had trouble learning. I started studying monday because i know from our reading that it is a bad idea to cram the night before. I took each chapter at a time and reviewed them so i could imprint the information into my brain. Thursday night came and i studied for hours, finally giving up at about 9 i remembered one thing, if i stop now then go to bed in a hour my brain will store that information. So after studing i went down stairs cooked myself a pizza and went to bed. When i got to the test i had to recall the information and recognize the answers to the questions. This was hard at times but i made it through the test.

Confusing puzzles that hurt my head...

So today in class not only did we have to do puzzles that hurt your head and were impossible to solve (even though others in the class solved them) but now we have to blog using vocabulary for this chapter, so well were do i begin. I guess i will begin with the nail puzzle since we almost go this one. Our group would have used insight, when i first saw the nails i remembered something from camp that we did with the GAPP students, when i saw the nails it triggered a memory, that i might have done but i didnt remember how to solve this puzzle. We got close but never finished.
Hmmm now the record problem, well that turned out to a problem haha. we could not figure out this, we didnt know what we needed to use what for and it was just totally confusing. We used fixation in the way that we would not try any other way besides using the pencil in the middle to turn the record and the needle to try and play the record. We were fixed on this way and didnt think their was any other way. We didnt have a mental set since you know many people dont know how to make a record player our of a piece of candy, band aid, pencil, and so on. Come on Dreier this is 2010 we use Ipod touches. haha.

Blog

So today in class at the end, after that awesome quiz we had, we watched a video and how the rat would find the food but then a week or so later be put in the same situation and they would remember where it was. Well i actually experienced this in a way. My grandma is staying the weekend here. She got here Wednesday and is staying till monday. Until tonight we switched were we were sleeping (we switched rooms). Since i took over three out of the five bedrooms in the house. Well my dogs absoulutly love my grandma and would run up and scratch the door so she would open it, but because she was not in their they were confused when i opened the door and ran away to look for my grandmother. I thought this was very interesting and funny how just today we watched a video on this.

Weekly blog #2

My post this week is going to be about Mrs. W. dad coming in and talking with us. Having him come in and discuss what he did and things that he knew about Harlow was very interesting. At first when i read this portion in the book I thought this was animal cruelty, I know it was research for good causes but still monkeys have a life too. Having him discuss how they could take baby monkeys away from their parents and then once they were ready to mate they would not know what to do. Upon having the child they would not know how to feed the child or even take care of this child. This in a sense can relate to human lives. Harlows research i do believe helped society. This researched showed that a child does need loving and caring not just food to grow up well.

PSA

This is my PSA I was in a group with Sara B. and Lauren G.
http://www.youtube.com/user/appsychology1023#p/a/u/0/6F09d5fzO44

The two PSA's that I really liked would be

Emily and logans video was very interesting
http://www.youtube.com/user/appsychology1023#p/u/7/_MI5J3FX-0E
I really liked this video because they not only used groups within the schools in ashwaubenon they also used great ways to relate these groups. They gave great facts about stages you go through and how they relate to each group. They used a variety of places and groups to relate to each stage.

Jarred and Alicias and Kate's PSA was great
http://www.youtube.com/user/appsychology1023#p/u/11/6I1L6LT_0NE
There PSA was by far the best, not only was it well edited and thought out it was very informational. Their PSA kept my attention the whole 3 mins. They related great programs to the stages and they even had great music to go with their video.
